The First Step to Freedom - Awakening Beyond the Mind

  • Wisdom House Retreat & Conference Center 229 East Litchfield Road Litchfield, CT, 06759 United States (map)

Presented by Carol Egan

In this three-hour session, you’ll be invited to step back from the noise of the mind and rest in the quiet awareness that’s always been there. Inspired by Michael Singer’s teachings and supported by wisdom from the Tao Te Ching, Bhagavad Gita, Thich Nhat Hanh, Yogananda, and others, this experience isn’t about fixing or changing anything. It’s about letting go, relaxing into the present moment, and discovering the freedom that’s already within you. A Google link to all referenced materials will be provided after the session for further reflection.

COST | $40, lunch is included

Carol Egan was born into a contemplative lineage: Her father a Brigittine monk, her aunt a cloistered Trappistine nun. What felt right for them never felt quite right for her. For years, she turned away from anything remotely contemplative. But what she tried to outrun patiently waited for her return.

After decades of spiritual inquiry—retreats, sacred texts, and teachers from many traditions—she stepped away from it all and turned inward. In that stillness, she found what the contemplatives have always known: that God is not taught, but encountered—not outside us, but within.

Today, Carol brings this deep spiritual practice into all that she does. A Cornell-trained Executive Health Coach and Clinical Advisor for CellCore Biosciences, she offers her work to continue that same devotion—to live awake, and to walk others home.
