Songs of Praise, Songs of Mourning: An Environmental Poetry Workshop

In this daylong workshop, poet/artist Steve Parlato will share poems celebrating the beauty of the natural world and addressing its increasingly fragile state. Parlato will provide participants with prompts to craft their own poems extolling nature’s gifts, while lamenting the damage done to God’s Earth.

 Steve Parlato, Prof. Emeritus at CT State Naugatuck Valley, an award-winning writer, actor, and artist, is the author of two novels, The Namesake and The Precious Dreadful. His artwork has been exhibited at Wisdom House, throughout CT, and in NJ, OH, and IA. A member of Poets for the Planet, Steve has written much of his recent poetry in response to the climate crisis.
