Gallery Opening: “Between Realms” by Amber Maida

  • Wisdom House Retreat & Conference Center 229 East Litchfield Road Litchfield, CT, 06759 United States (map)

Presented by Amber Maida

Join us at Wisdom House for the opening of an exhibition by Connecticut artist Amber Maida, whose mixed media paintings and sculptures explore spirituality, healing, ancestry, nature, and the connections between past and present.

Rooted in a spiritual practice of Chi cultivation and inspired by her Native American heritage, Maida’s work brings together paint, natural elements, and found objects to create richly layered pieces filled with texture and symbolism. Her materials often carry their own stories, from objects gathered in her Connecticut home to natural and cultural elements discovered during her travels throughout the American West.

Maida’s work is also deeply informed by her own experience of healing. Following major lung surgery in 2010, she began creating new collections centered on fragility, strength, gratitude, and the passage of time. Today, her work reflects a continuing dialogue between the natural world, personal experience, and the stories carried by the objects she incorporates into each piece.

Please join us for the opening reception from 4:30–6:30 PM, with a short artist talk beginning around 5:30 PM. Enjoy complimentary light refreshments prepared by Wisdom House’s kitchen while experiencing Maida’s work and hearing more about her creative process and inspiration.

Amber Maida’s work has been exhibited and collected throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, including exhibitions at the New Britain Museum of American Art, Housatonic Museum of Art, Silvermine Guild of Art, and Mattatuck Museum. She currently lives and works in Warren, Connecticut.

There will be light refreshments served. Please RSVP for this event using the link below.
